Dr. Barry Sysler is a former professor having taught at the college level for forty years. In 1999, he founded Academic Directions, an educational consultancy located in Langhorne, PA.  He is one of the few Certified Educational Planners in the country to be considered an expert on the college funding process. He holds a Ph.D. from Temple University. Throughout the year, Dr. Sysler conducts a series of workshops for parents of high school students to educate them about the college admissions process and how to qualify for financial aid and merit scholarship packages.

Issues of affordability and admissibility are evaluated, alternatives carefully assessed with the end result the successful pairing of the student with their most appropriate collegiate match and fit.

To provide the best possible service to his students, Barry Sysler attends regional and national conferences on college admissions and financial aid. He continually travels throughout the United States visiting colleges and meeting with Admissions and Financial Aid Directors so that he can stay current with trends and campus programs. Dr. Sysler is a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and the Higher Education Counselors Association (HECA).
